WHAT IS THE HUMMINGBIRD IN THE HURRICANE, WHY IS IT SHOWING UP IN MY INBOX, AND WHY SHOULD I CARE?
STRENGTH TO WEATHER THE STORM

A tiny bird holding on to a twig to survive a hurricane is the natural place that any serious strength conversation needs to begin. The resilience is unimaginable. The strength-to-weight ratio is off the charts! Let’s take a look at some phenomenal hummingbird intel I found on www.birdfeeders.com.

Hummingbirds and hurricanes have been intertwined for hundreds of thousands of years. When bad weather hits, they hunker down as tightly as they can in the most sheltered place they can find. Their feet are very strong and can hold onto a twig very tightly when the wind blows. Folks have reported seeing them feeding heavily when the eye of the hurricane passes over, even as winds are still extremely strong.

A typical hummingbird weighs about 3-4 grams (a nickel weighs about 5 grams). The US Weather Bureau calls a wind a hurricane when it blows as fast as 74 miles an hour. Consider that hurricanes may have a diameter of 400 to 500 miles, and during your next round of loaded carries, be the hummingbird.
