Ian McLaren: March 2017
1. What inspires you to train? Or in other words, what motivates you to go to the gym on a day to day basis?
I was overweight as a kid and as a teenager, so when I first started working out in my 20s my motivation was primarily tied to wanting to change how I looked. I’d be lying if I said that that weren’t still a part of what motivates me, but as I get older I’m much more motivated by how my body feels when I’m working out regularly. I feel stronger and more grounded both physically and emotionally when I keep my body moving day to day.
2. What has been your biggest challenge to learn or accomplish at the gym?
Not being a slave to my ego. I’m always fine tuning that balance between pushing/challenging myself and working from where my body is on any given day.
3. If I could waive a magic wand and give you your ideal job or lifestyle, what would it look like?
I have a tshirt that sums it up pretty well… “I just want to drink coffee, create stuff, and sleep.”
